Circa 1986, the word skill disappeared from the vocabulary of the kids at Baden-Powell Middle School almost as quickly as it arrived. It's disappearance was heralded by some kid's older brother telling some fourth years that it wasn't a good thing to be The final nail in the coffin came when one of the fourth years combined it with the word dildo to produce the noun "skildo". This spread like wildfire. Wherever a child was heard describing themselves as skill there was another to be heard describing them as a skildo. My most coherent memory of the word skildo was when Mr Ash asked Simon Bell to explain to the class what it meant during a science lesson and Simon happily obliged. He finished his explaination by asking Mr Ash what a dildo was and he said look it up. As we were all supposed to have Oxford English dictionaries he did so there and then and read the definition to the class. Many of us still didn't understand. Mr Ash did and spent the rest of the lesson marking homework. What a skildo.
